What is Ansar al-Nisa?
Ansar al-Nisa (Helpers of the Women) is a charitable program by The Aafiyah Project dedicated to supporting women in need through Sadaqah and Zakat. The program provides essential assistance while upholding Islamic principles, dignity, and compassion.
What types of donations does Ansar al-Nisa accept?
We accept both:

Sadaqah – voluntary charity given at any time.

Zakat – obligatory almsgiving distributed strictly according to Qur’anic guidelines.
Donors must designate whether their contribution is Sadaqah or Zakat at the time of giving.
How is Zakat distributed through this program?
Zakat funds are distributed only to individuals who qualify under the eight eligible categories outlined in Surah At-Tawbah (9:60). All distributions are reviewed and approved to ensure full Shariah compliance, transparency, and accountability.

Who qualifies to receive Zakat assistance?
Women may qualify if they fall within one or more of the Qur’an’s Zakat categories:

Al-Fuqara (The Poor): Those unable to meet basic living needs.

Al-Masakin (The Needy): Individuals facing severe financial hardship.

Those Whose Hearts Are to Be Reconciled: Converts to Islam or individuals needing support to strengthen faith and stability.

Individuals seeking help should complete the Ansar al-Nisa Application Form. If assistance is needed due to language barriers, physical limitations, or other valid reasons, a trusted representative may help complete the form.
All information provided must be truthful and accurate.
Can I nominate someone else for support?
Yes. If you know a woman who may be eligible, you can complete the Nomination Form.
Nominators should have personal knowledge of the nominee’s circumstances and provide accurate information.
How does Ansar al-Nisa ensure privacy and confidentiality?
All information is treated with strict confidentiality.
Sensitive personal and financial information is used only for the purpose of determining eligibility and distributing assistance and is not retained after it is no longer needed. We are committed to protecting the dignity, privacy, and safety of all applicants.
How are applicants reviewed?

When are the funds distributed?
The Ansar al-Nisa funds are distributed throughout the year based on availability.
During Ramadan, we aim to distribute collected Zakat between the 1st and 28th day, honoring donors who prefer their Zakat to be given during the holy month.

Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. A tax receipt is provided at the end of the calendar year in which you your donation is made.
The Aafiyah Project is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law.
